Huntley, Nyce & Associates

Huntley, Nyce & Associates, Ltd. (HNA) is a multi-disciplined organization which provides engineering, land planning and surveying services to the Washington Metropolitan Area and surrounding regions.

HNA needed a website that served three audiences. The general public needed a site that described HNA's services and office locations, along with providing helpful links to municipal regulations and other relevant information. HNA's clients needed a secure place from which to download the latest information about their projects. And HNA's employees needed an intranet to assist in their day to day operations. HNA was using Active Directory to allow its employees access to their network, and wanted to use the same login information for the intranet for simplicity's sake. The problem was that they did not want their clients to be included in Active Directory, and the website needed a single, unified login process for everyone in order to keep the maintenance costs down.

The CMS solution FirePig provided include an Intranet and Clientnet for HNA that could only be accessed by authenticated users. To meet the disparate goals of a single sign on that took advantage of HNA's existing technology infrastructure, we reworked the CMS's authentication process to first authenticate via their Active Directory, and then to compare login credentials with the CMS's internal accounts.
